SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women’s golf team will get a look at six Southland Conference squads along with several area schools at the Islanders Classic, which begins Monday at the Corpus Christi Country Club. The 16-team field will use a shotgun start on both days and play two rounds on the opening day with the final 18 holes coming on Tuesday.

Fabiola Arriaga (Fr. – Torreon, Mexico)
· Tied for 16th at the Chip-N Club Invitational, Sept. 13-14
· Tied for third on the squad with a 76 stroke average
· Low round of the season was a 71 at the UCF Challenge, Feb. 13-15
· Recorded a 74 in her first collegiate round
Summer Batiste (Jr. – Austin, Texas)
· Best finish of the fall was tied for 13th at the Alamo Invitational, Oct. 31-Nov. 2
· Second on the team with a 75.33 stroke average
· Only player to record an eagle on the season
· 2009-10 second-team All-Southland
Shannon Jungman (Jr. – Pflugerville, Texas)
· Will be making her fourth appearance of the season but first of the spring
· Tied for 17th at the Alamo Invitational, Oct. 31-Nov. 2
· Shot a career-best 72 in the first round of the Alamo Invitational
Taylor Newlin (Fr. – Frisco, Texas)
· Finished tied for fourth in her first collegiate tournament, the Chip-N Club Invitational, Sept. 13-14
· Tied for third on the team with a 76 stroke average
· Shot a 69 at the Mercedes-Benz Women's Championship, Oct. 8-10
· Finished in the top 15 in two of four fall tournaments
Bruna Spengler (Jr. – Santa Cruz do Sul, Brazil)
· Will be making her third appearance this season
· Finished tied for 69th at the UCF Challenge (Feb. 13-15)
· Owns a career 79.58 stroke average
· One of the squad's most experienced players, she will be playing in her 18th career tournament
Paola Valerio (So. – Mexico City, Mexico)
· Set school records with a 66 and 54-hole score of 212 to finish fifth at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships, Oct. 8-10.
· Leads the team with a 74.07 stroke average
· Finished in the top-10 three times this year
· 2010 first-team All-Southland Conference
