SAN ANTONIO -- Four UTSA women's tennis standouts are set to participate in the ITA Texas Regional Championship, set for Thursday-Monday in College Station, Texas, at Texas A&M's George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
"The Texas regionals is a very tough tournament with the very best players from our region competing," UTSA first-year coach Ki Kroll said. "This will give us a good look at our improvement over the fall season and it should be a great challenge for our ladies."
UTSA will send juniors Laura Cabrera (Barcelona, Spain) and Kylee Kato (Kahului, Hawaii), freshman Sophie Omoworare (Plano, Texas) and sophomore Charleen Tiwari (Perth, Australia) to the ITA Regional Championships.
Cabrera, Omoworare and Tiwari will each compete in both singles and doubles during the event, with Kato slated for doubles.
The event will also include Abilene Christian, Lamar, Prairie View A&M, Houston, Sam Houston State, SMU, SFA, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, Texas Tech, UIW, North Texas, UT Arlington, Texas and UTRGV.
Matches will start at 9 a.m. CT each day.
