SAN ANTONIO — The back-to-back Conference USA champion UTSA women's golf team will find out its NCAA postseason destination when the NCAA Selection Show airs at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, on the Golf Channel.
The 90-minute show is set to air at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on the Golf Channel's Golf Central and streamed live on the Golf Channel website at golfchannel.com.
Seventy-two teams and 24 individuals will be selected to compete at one of four regional championships, each featuring 18 teams and six individuals not on those teams. All four regionals will be contested on Monday-Wednesday, May 6-8.
The four NCAA Regional sites include:
• Tumble Creek Golf Club in Cle Elum, Washington, hosted by the University of Washington
• Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma, hosted by the University of Oklahoma
• Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Michigan, hosted by Michigan State University and Greater Lansing Sports Authority
• Saugahatchee Country Club in Opelika, Alabama, hosted by Auburn University
The low six teams and low three individuals not on those teams from each regional — a total of 24 teams and 12 individuals — will advance to the national championships to be played May 17-22 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
Under the direction of two-time C-USA Coach of the Year Summer Batiste, the Roadrunners earned their second straight and fifth overall NCAA postseason bid after winning the C-USA Championship last week in Florida. Ana Gonzalez captured individual medalist honors and Julie Houston tied for eighth place to lead UTSA to a 12-shot victory for its second consecutive and fourth all-time league title.
UTSA advanced to three straight NCAA Regionals in 2011-13, finishing 16th in the 2011 West Regional, 20th in the 2012 Central Regional, and 17th in the 2013 Central Regional. The Roadrunners turned in their best NCAA postseason finish and score by placing 12th with an 892 (298-295-299) at the Austin Regional last year.
