LIMA, Peru — UTSA junior Ana Gonzalez registered a top-10 finish in the Pan American Games in the women's golf competition, which wrapped up Sunday at Lima Golf Club.
Representing her native country of Mexico, Gonzalez finished in a three-way tie for ninth place at 6-over-par 290 in the field of 32 golfers.
With UTSA head coach Summer Batiste serving as her caddie, Gonzalez opened the 72-hole competition with a 1-over 72 on Thursday. The Monterrey native followed with rounds of 73 and 74 over the next two days before closing out the tournament Sunday with an even-par 71 that featured four birdies, including three as part of a 34 on the front nine.
Gonzalez, the reigning Conference USA individual champion, and the Roadrunners will open the 2019-20 season on Sept. 9-10 at the Minnesota Invitational in Woodbury, Minn.
