SAN ANTONIO -- Colleen Gilbert and Amber Boyd each earned top-10 finishes in the UIW Invitational, held on Saturday at Live Oak City Park.
UTSA's women placed second in the four-mile, ahead of Texas A&M-International and St. Edward's, with the men finishing third in the 5,000 meters behind Texas A&M-International and ahead of Schreiner. UIW, with the women ranked No. 15 and the men No. 7 in the South Central Region by USTFCCA in the preseason, won both the men's and women's events.
Gilbert, a native of Austin, Texas, led UTSA's Individual performers with a second place finsh, with Boyd placing sixth. Marissa Martinez (16th; San Antonio), Briana Gonzalez (17th; San Antonio), Abby Balli (18th; Pasadena, Calif.) and Brooke Lomax (20th; Katy, Texas) each placed in the top 20.
The men were paced by Martin Luevano, a senior from Boerne, who finished 15th while Matthew David (Lahoma, Okla.) placed 20th.
The Roadrunners will return to action with the Lakefront Invitational in Chicago on Sept. 28.
