DALLAS — UTSA sophomore Hannah Holzmann has been named Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Holzmann won the Texas State Invitational on Tuesday to help lead the Roadrunners to their second straight team title at the tournament. She carded a 3-under-par 213 to collect her first collegiate win by six shots in the 78-player field, helping UTSA to its fifth trophy under third-year head coach Summer Batiste.
The San Antonio native opened the 54-hole event with a 74 before firing a 3-under 69 in the second round and closing with a 70. She recorded a tournament-best 12 birdies and led the field in par-4 scoring (-1) in bettering her previous collegiate-best finish of second, which came in her UTSA debut at the 2018 Lady Maxwell Invitational. Her win is the fourth individual crown in the Batiste era and the 16th in the 15-year history of the program.
This marked the first career weekly award for Holzmann and the first for a Roadrunner since Ana Gonzalez was honored last April.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Feb. 24-25 when they travel to The Woodlands, Texas, for the ICON Invitational.
