Local prep star Chris Shull signs NLI

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio's Chris Shull RHP/OF signs National Letter of Intent, joining the 2020 recruiting class head coach Pat Hallmark announced Saturday.

A four-year letterwinner at Douglas MacArthur High School, Shull earned all-state honors after his junior campaign, while garnering all-district accolades each of his first three seasons. He hit .324 or higher in each of his three-plus seasons, including a .400 batting average in 2019, posting career-best with five homeruns and 33 RBIs.

On the mound, Shull posted an 11-9 record, striking out 124 in 118.1 innings of work. He was 2-1, with a 1.43 ERA, allowing just six hits while fanning 21 in 14.2 innings before his senior season was cancelled. The 21 strikeouts placed him ahead of his career-best pace of 40 punch-outs in 42.0 innings during his junior year.

Shull is a member of the National Honor Society and garnered Academic All-District honors in 2019.

QUOTES FROM COACH HALLMARK
"We are excited for Chris to join the athletes we signed in the fall. Chris is a San Antonio kid who is one of the top prep players in the area for the past three years. He has polish and feel on three pitches already and shows some power potential at the plate. We know the Shull family well having coached his brother for two years and can't wait to coach Chris also."
