LAS VEGAS – The UTSA women's tennis team closed out a trip to Las Vegas with a 4-1 win over host UNLV Sunday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
"I was very proud of our team today, we came out to play, and showed great intensity," head coach Ki Kroll said. "Everyone is looking forward to this coming weekend where we will host three home matches. It should be a lot of fun."
The Roadrunners were on the board early claiming the doubles point. Catalina Cabrique and Alexandra Weir defeated their opponent 6-3 at No. 3 and Sophie Omoworare and Aleksandra Zlatarova won at No. 2 (6-4) to garner the point.
In singles, Cabrique dropped a 6-0, 6-0 loss at No. 3 for the lone point for the Rebels. Weir improved to 2-2 on the season with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 as UTSA led 2-1. At No. 6, Keegan McCain topped her opponent 6-1, 6-3 and Zlatarova captured a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 2 to clinch the match.
The Roadrunners are back in action Feb. 13 when they host Northwestern State at 11 a.m.
