UTSA upended by Texas State

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA softball team was upended by Texas State 8-1 Saturday evening at Roadrunner Field.
 
The Bobcats scored early with two runs in the top of the first.
 
In the second, Texas State scored three more runs on five hits to extend the lead to five (5-0).
 
The Bobcats added more runs in the third and one in the fourth to lead 8-0 going to the fifth.
 
The Roadrunners scored one run in the fifth to get on the board. With two outs, Sydney Blakeman earned a walk and Kat Ibarra followed with a single to left field. Celeste Loughman doubled to score Blakeman as UTSA trailed 8-1.
 
Madison Nelson started the game pitching 1.2 innings with on strikeout. Marena Estell came in and pitched 1.1 innings, followed by Clarissa Hernandez who threw for 4.o innings with four strikeouts.
 
The Roadrunners recorded four hits on the day.
