Aston announces signing of Texas transfer Elyssa Coleman

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA women's basketball head coach Karen Aston announced the signing of Texas transfer Elyssa Coleman on Thursday.

Coleman joins the Roadrunners after spending the last season with the Longhorns.

"I am so excited to be able to bring Elyssa into our program," Aston said. "We built a relationship with her and her family during her high school recruitment and I know the quality of her work and her integrity as a person. She will be hungry and anxious to impact Roadrunner basketball. Elyssa comes from a winning culture and I'm so anxious to see her develop and reach her potential not only as a player, but as a student, leader and young woman."

Coleman is a forward from Humble, Texas, and played at Atascocita High School. She was the No. 12 forward in the class of 2020, according to espnW. With the Eagles, she played in 132 games and averaged 10.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and 1.1 steals per game. Coleman was also named to the TABC Class 6A All-State Team and the District 22-6A Most Valuable Player in 2020. She also surpassed the 1,000-point milestone her senior season.

Coleman is the third signee for Aston in her first year at the helm.
