UTSA inks Barbados triple jump standout

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox on Thursday announced that the program has signed Barbados triple jump standout Jemuel Miller. He will join the Roadrunners beginning with the 2021-22 season.

Miller will come to UTSA as one of the top triple jumpers on the junior international circuit. He won the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 15.62 meters (51-3) at the 2020 Barbados U20 National Championships, a performance that ranks him 17th in his age group and set a Barbados Secondary School Athletic Championships record. He also took top honors in the high jump at the same meet with a clearance of 1.97m (6-5.5).

"Jemuel Miller is a big addition to our signing class," Fox said. "He's emerged as one of the top young triple jumpers over the last year and we are excited about his continued development once he gets into our training program. We can't wait for him to join the Roadrunner Family."

A native of Bridgetown, Miller skipped to a 15.36m (50-4.75) measurement to capture gold in the triple jump at the Louis Lynch Championships in February 2020. He showed marked improvement from his 2019 best of 14.71m (48-3.25). He also owns a PR of 6.96m (22-10) in the long jump.

Miller is the fourth member of UTSA's current signing class, joining South African distance standout Chante Dixon, Ireland U20 record-holder Sam Healy and Estonian national champion Johanna Soover, who all are currently competing for the Roadrunners this season.
