SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's tennis team topped Texas State 4-1 Friday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.
"Good win today," head coach Ki Kroll said. "We came out strong in doubles and carried our momentum into singles. We'll have to build on this and come out with a lot of energy against UT Arlington on Sunday, at 11 a.m. here at home."
The Roadrunners started strong taking the doubles point. At No. 3, Alexandra Weir and Catalina Cabrique defeated their opponent 6-1, followed by Aleksandra Zlatarova and Sophie Omoworare upending their opponent 6-3 at No. 1 to take the point.
In singles, Cabrique kept the momentum going with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 5. Zlatarova followed with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 2 as UTSA led 3-0. The Bobcats got their lone point at No. 1 after Jasmin Starr dropped a 6-1, 7-6 match. Closing out the day, Weir topped her opponent 7-6, 6-4 at No. 3 to garner the win.
The Roadrunners wrap up the regular season on Sunday when they host UT Arlington at 11 a.m.
