SAN ANTONIO – Coming off a 2-0 week, UTSA soccer will travel to Corpus Christi to take on the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The game will be played at Dr. Jack Dugan Family Soccer & Track Stadium and will be streamed on the Islander Digital Network.
UTSA (3-1) will face off with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (1-1) in the first of a two-game road trip, which will also pit the Roadrunners against the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock on Sunday at 7 p.m.
The Roadrunners are riding a three-game win streak as they head into the two-game road trip. Most recently, UTSA battled previously undefeated Grand Canyon University this past Sunday, prevailing 2-1. Prior to the game on Sunday, the Roadrunners shut out California Baptist on Thursday, 3-0.
In the win on Sunday, UTSA got goals from both Isa Hernandez and Sarina Russ, with Hernandez and Ellis Patterson picking up assists. As for the game on Thursday, three Roadrunners chipped in goals. Freshman Anna Sutter scored two and senior Ellis Patterson scored the other. Alissa Stewart picked up two assists on the day and Kendall Kloza notched one for herself too. UTSA got a clean sheet from Jil Schneider on Thursday, which marked her second shutout in a row.
The Roadrunners have a goal differential of 8-3 on the season. UTSA is averaging two goals per game and is shooting 17% on their shots on net. 49% of all shots the Roadrunners have taken have been on goal and they are averaging 11.3 shots per game.
The reigning C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week, Schneider has saved 17 shots and posts a 0.75 GAAVG. UTSA has seen six different players score through four games this season. Patterson and Sutter are leading the way with two goals scored a piece and both have five points on the season. Kloza, Russ, Hernandez and Jordyn Hyland each have scored one goal this season. Alissa Stewart leads the squad with two assists on the year and five other Roadrunners have an assist to their name.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (1-1) is coming off loss at the UTRGV on Saturday. Last season, the Islanders posted a 4-8-5 record, including an 3-5-3 mark in league play and a 2-5-2 record at home. Samantha Palomino leads the Islanders with three goals and six points total this season. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has played two goal keepers on the young season, both with a full game under their belt. Emily Levy pitched a shutout against Texas Southern.
This will mark the sixth meeting between UTSA and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with the overall record sitting at 2-2-1. The previous meeting resulted in a 2-0 UTSA last February.
