Baseball announces fall practice schedule

SAN ANTONIO -- The UTSA baseball program will open its fall intrasquad season on Oct. 1 and run through Nov. 14, it was announced by head coach Pat Hallmark
 
UTSA will intrasquad each Thursday, Friday Saturday and Sunday at Roadrunner Field from Oct. 1-Nov. 14. Thursday and Friday scrimmages will be held at 2:45 p.m., Saturday is slated for 10 a.m. and Sunday will be at 12 p.m.
 
The UTSA Fall World Series is set for Oct. 28-30 and Nov. 4-5 as a best-of-five series. 
 
The Roadrunners are coming off a 2021 season that saw UTSA rank among the nation's top offensive attacks. UTSA ranked ninth in the nation in runs per game (7.9), 18th in average (.302), 19th in slugging percentage (.480) and 21st in on-base percentage (.396).
 
UTSA returns a bevy of talent from the 2021 roster, including slugging outfielder Chase Keng, who belted seven homers and drove in 31 runs in 34 games a year ago, hitting .301. Jonathan Tapia, a do-everything utility standout, hit .295 with 24 RBI, while Ian Bailey slugged six homers and hit .270 in his UTSA debut season. UTSA also welcomes back Leyton Barry, who batted .382 with four homers and 27 RBI. On the mound, UTSA returns several key contributors, including righty-hander John Chomko, who appeared in 13 games with one start in his debut season.
