Roadrunners to open campaign on Friday night at UIW Twilight

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA cross country teams will start their season on Friday, Sept. 3, at the UIW Twilight hosted at the Classics Elite Soccer Academy at McAllister Park. 
 
The women will compete in the 4k race scheduled for 8:50 p.m. and the men will follow with the 8k at 9:10 p.m. The Roadrunners will compete against Our Lady of the Lake, Texas State, Trinity, UT Arlington, UT Rio Grande Valley and UIW. Results will be available after each race at chuckscore.com
 
Abby Balli returns this fall as UTSA's top runner after she was the team's top finisher in both meets last season. She had a time of 23:25:15 in the C-USA Cross Country Championship 6k, placing her at 43rd. Balli also placed fifth in the Naimadu Classic, clocking a 22:42:5.
 
Jake Smith leads the list of returnees for men. Last season, Smith came in 30th place in the C-USA Championship 8k run with a time of 25:46:53. He also placed fourth in the Naimadu Classic 8k, clocking a 25:42:8.
