The men's basketball team opens its 2021-22 schedule as part of a doubleheader at the Convocation Center with the women's team on Nov. 9. UTSA will host a total of 18 games at the Convocation Center, including a nine-game schedule in Conference USA. The Roadrunners will host a multi-team event Nov. 15-17 and will welcome a total of nine non-conference foes to San Antonio before opening league play.

UTSA's men return three starters from a 15-win COVID-19 impacted season in 2020-21, including senior forward Cedrick Alley Jr., a C-USA Freshman Team selection in scoring dynamo Jordan Ivy-Curry, and two-year starting center Jacob Germany, a former four-star prospect who ranked as the highest recruit in UTSA history when he signed out of Kingston, Okla. UTSA also returns guard Erik Czumbel, who has started 31 games over his first two seasons, and 2020-21 letterwinners in Lachlan Bofinger, Phoenix Ford, Artan Jabbar and Adrian Rodriguez. UTSA is buoyed by the addition of a pair of former four-star recruits, including Cal and SMU transfer Darius McNeill and the latest highest ranked recruit in program annals, 6-foot-9 forward Josh Farmer. The Roadrunners also welcome the addition of 6-8 guard/forward Aleu Aleu, 6-5 guards Dhieu Deing and Azavier Johnson, 6-7 guard Lamin Sabally and 6-3 speedster Christian Tucker.

The women's basketball team opens the season hosting former Southland Conference foe Stephen F. Austin. The Roadrunners are set to have a total of 13 home games at the Convocation Center.

UTSA returns eight players from last year's roster and welcomed seven transfers under new head coach Karen Aston, who was named the 10th coach in program history on March 29. Aston added Jamie Carey, Empress Davenport, Cameron Miles and Lauren Fruits to round out the new staff.
