Harrison paces UTSA on Monday at Bentwater Intercollegiate

MONTGOMERY, Texas — David Harrison fired an even-par round to lead the UTSA men's golf team on the first day of the Bentwater Intercollegiate, which got underway Monday at Bentwater Country Club's Miller Course (par 71/6,788 yards).

Harrison posted a pair of eagles en route to a 71 in the opening round, helping the Roadrunners card a 294, good for a share of eighth place with Rice. UTSA is two strokes ahead of Nicholls and nine strokes out of first place with 36 holes left to play.

Harrison, a junior from Trophy Club, eagled the 295-yard, par-4 seventh and 502-yard, par-5 16th holes and is tied for 14th place in the field of 72 players. He is only three shots off the 3-under-par pace set by Texas State's Terrin Anderson.

Michael Rome and Jack Wehman are part of a tie for 32nd at 3-over par. Each player had four birdies as part of their opening-round 74s.

Playing in his hometown, Hunter Bott posted a 75 behind a trio of birdies and is tied for 41st, while Christian Fanfelle rounds out the UTSA lineup in a tie for 65th (79).

Patrick Kahanek is in a tie for 55th (76) while playing as an individual.

The second round is slated for Tuesday and the Roadrunners will tee off from No. 1 beginning at 8:54 a.m.
