UTSA to close fall schedule at Rice Hidden Dual


 SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team will close its 2021 fall schedule at the Rice Hidden Dual this Friday-Sunday, that will take place at the George R. Brown Tennis Center in Houston, Texas.
 
The Roadrunners that will competing this weekend will be Javier Gonzales (San Fernando, Chile), Garrett Skelly (The Woodlands, Texas), Miguel Alonso (Veracruz, Mexico), Maxime Groysman (Bellevue, Washington) and Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil).  The schools present will be  Rice, Tulane and SMU.
 
In the ITA Regionals two weeks ago, Ceolin (ranked No.66 in singles) beat Luke Casper from Texas A&M. Following, Groysman went 2-0 with wins over Alberto Mellow of UTRGV and Ryan Flanagan of Abilene Christian. Rodriguez went 2-0 in the main draw consolation against Nathan Schwartz of Texas A&M- Corpus Crisiti and Carlo Izurieta of UTRGV.
 
In consolation singles, Skelly defeated Max Amling of Lamar. Groysman went 6-0, defeating Alberto Mellow of UTRGV. Lastly, Rodriguez won against Carlo Izurieta of UTRGV.
 
In a first-round of doubles match, Alonso and Groysman advanced with an 8-3 winner Te Kani Williams and Chris Lawrance of UTRGV.
