Roadrunners swept by Omaha, Boise State

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA softball team closed the second day of the Cardinal Invitational with a loss to Omaha and Boise State on Saturday afternoon.
 
Game One: Omaha
A shutout from the Omaha pitching staff fueled a 5-0 victory over the Roadrunners.
 
After a no-run first inning, the Mavericks gained an early lead with two runs in the second inning. Both teams recorded no runs in the fourth and fifth. Three runs in the sixth gave Omaha the 5-0 advantage to claim the game.
 
Alexa Williams started in the circle for the Roadrunners pitching 4.0 innings with two strikeouts. Jamie Gilbert was in the circle for 3.0 innings against the Mavericks with three strikeouts.
 
Game Two: Boise State
The Roadrunners were upended by Boise State 2-0 for the second game of Saturday afternoon.
 
Both teams were scoreless in the first three innings. The Broncos took the lead at the bottom of the fourth with a pair of runs.
 
The Roadrunners recorded three hits from Marena Estell, Emily Dear and Ciarra Mata against Boise State. Estell was in the circle for the Roadrunners. She pitched 6.0 innings against the Broncos with one strikeout.
 
The Roadrunners will return to the field for the third day of the tournament on Sunday afternoon to face UIW at 3:30 p.m.
