North Texas clinches series with game three win

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA softball team fell to North Texas 11-4 in game three of the series Sunday afternoon at Roadrunner Field.
 
The Mean Green took an early lead with a solo home run and a two-run homer in the first.
 
In the second, North Texas added four more runs from five hits to extend the lead to seven.
 
The Roadrunners got on the board in the third. With one out, Kat Ibarra hit a solo homer run to center field to trail 7-1. Camryn Robillard earned a walk and Riley Grunberg followed with a two-run homer to left field (7-3).
 
The Mean Green tacked on one more run in the sixth to lead 8-3.
 
In the top of the seventh, North Texas scored three more runs to clinch the game (11-3). In the bottom of the frame, Caylee Driskill opened with a walk. With two outs and one on, Robillard earned a walk as Ibarra reached second. Grunberg followed with a single to center field as runners advanced and Ibarra scored for the final run of the game.
 
Kloey Harlson earned the start, pitching 0.2 innings. Tatum Seith came in for 1.1 innings and Marena Estell followed, pitching four innings with a strikeout. Jamie Gilbert closed out the game pitching the final inning and recording a strikeout.
 
UTSA posted four hits on the day.
 
The Roadrunners return to the field on Tuesday when they host UIW at 6 p.m.
