UTSA breaks Lamar’s win streak, winning 4-3

Beaumont, Texas - The UTSA men's tennis team broke Lamar's 4 match win streak on Saturday afternoon, claiming a 4-3 victory at the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
 
Freshman Tiago Torres (Lisbon, Portugal) claimed his fourth consecutive singles win, defeating Daniel Sancho Arbizu 4-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-1 on court 1. This is Torres 16th singles win of the season.
Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) bested Juan Jose Rodriguez 6-3, 7-5 in singles on court 2. This is his 9th singles win of the season.
 
In doubles, Ceolin and Sebastian Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) earned their first win as a duo as they beat Arbizu and Rodriguez 7-5 on court 1.
 
Next week is the Conference-USA tournament and it will be held in Norfolk, Virginia. Match times and opponents are TBD.
