UTSA drops game three of series at LA Tech

RUSTON, La. – The UTSA softball team dropped a 7-4 decision to Louisiana Tech Sunday afternoon to close out the series.
 
The Lady Techsters were on the board early with four runs in the second. They opened with a solo home run, then scored three more runs from two singles and a double to lead 4-0.
 
The Roadrunners got on the board in the fourth. Riley Grunberg opened with a single to left field. Marena Estell smacked the ball over the right field wall for a two-run homer as UTSA trailed 4-2. With one out, Erykah Guerrero reached on an error and Lauren Coerver earned a walk, but a flyout ended the inning.
 
UTSA added one more run in the fifth from a solo home run to center field off the bat of Grunberg to make it a one-run game (4-3).
 
LA Tech scored three more runs in the bottom of the sixth from two hits to extend the lead to four (7-3).
 
In the top of the seventh, the Roadrunners added the final run of the game off a sac fly from Emily Dear to score Camryn Robillard.
 
Estell earned the start, pitching 1.2 innings with three strikeouts. Alexa Williams came in for 0.1 innings with a strikeout and Jamie Gilbert closed the game, pitching the final 4.0 innings with two strikeouts.
 
UTSA recorded nine hits on the day with Grunberg leading the team with three.
 
The Roadrunners return to the field on Tuesday when they host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
