DENTON, Texas – The UTSA softball team ended the 2022 season in a tough 11-4 loss to Florida Atlantic in the first round of the Conference USA Championship.
The Roadrunners were on the board in the third. Ciarra Mata opened the inning with a single to second base. Kat Ibarra followed with a home run to right field to score Mata and gain an early 2-0 lead. Freshman Camryn Robillard singled up the middle. With two outs on the board, Erykah Guerrero hit her eighth home run of the season to extend the lead the four (4-0). The Owls scored six runs from three hits in the bottom of the frame to take the lead (6-4).
In the fourth, FAU tacked on three runs from a two-run homer and a RBI single to extend its lead (9-4).
The Owls scored two more runs in the sixth from a triple and a ground out to lead 11-4.
Marena Estell started in the circle, pitching 2.2 innings with three strikeouts. Jamie Gilbert came in for 0.1 innings and had a strikeout before Tatum Seith finished the game.
UTSA recorded seven hits on the day.
The Roadrunners finished the season 18-30 overall and 11-12 in conference games.
