Flores, Keng, Malone and Poston named to All-Tournament Team

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Following the conclusion of the 2022 Conference USA Championships, four Roadrunners were recognized as part of the All-Tournament Team.

UTSA's four honorees were INF Ryan Flores, OF Chase Keng, P Luke Malone and DH/UTIL Garrett Poston. The four honorees are the most UTSA has placed on an All-Tournament team since it won the WAC tournament in 2013.

Flores, a senior UIW transfer from Corpus Christi, slashed .353/.450/.706 across the Roadrunners' four tournament games. The southpaw belted two ninth inning home runs, one a game winner over No. 1 seed Southern Miss, and tallied four RBI on the week. Flores also showed out in the title game as he crushed one over the rightfield fence to tie the game up at eight.

Keng, a senior from Deer Park, had six hits in four games, including a two-run bomb in the Roadrunners' first tournament game against FAU. Keng scored six runs, a team high, and pounded two doubles, also a team high, in tournament play.

Malone, who entered the tournament tied for the most wins in C-USA, earned his league-leading ninth win in UTSA's first game of the tournament. Malone entered in place of Braylon Owens with two on and no outs in the top of the first. Malone then proceeded to pitch the rest of the game, recording all 27 outs, in a masterful relief appearance. Malone made a second appearance in the title game, three games removed from a nine-inning performance, to help steady the Roadrunner ship against La Tech.

Poston put together a solid tournament run, as the left-handed batter slashed .353/.389/.647. Of Poston's six hits on the week, three were for extra bases. Poston had a two-run shot in the early portion of Saturday's rematch with Southern Miss that opened the floodgates for UTSA's scoring efforts. Poston also had two doubles in the tournament, including a clutch two-run double against Louisiana Tech in the championship game.

UTSA awaits a potential postseason berth, as the Roadrunners currently possess the 38th highest RPI in the country with the selection show scheduled for tomorrow, May 30, at 11 a.m. The rest of the All-Tournament Team – and MVP – follows.
