Roadrunners announce 2022-23 schedule

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head men's golf coach Matt Wernecke on Friday announced the program's 2022-23 schedule, which features tournaments in seven different states including trips to the world-famous golf destinations of Pebble Beach and TPC Sawgrass.

"We're really excited about this schedule," Wernecke said. "We were able to add different tournaments, which allows the guys to play at new venues and compete against some of the best teams in the country.  We are excited about the opportunity ahead and can't wait to get the season started next month."

The Roadrunners will tee off their first season under Wernecke on Sept. 11-13 at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate at Squire Creek Golf Club in Choudrant, Louisiana.

UTSA then will fly to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on Sept. 23-24 before heading to Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas for the Trinity Forest Invitational on Oct. 2-4.

The Roadrunners are slated to play in the ORU Invitational hosted by Oral Roberts on Oct. 24-25 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, before they head to the West Coast for the Saint Mary's Invitational on Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at Pebble Beach's Poppy Hills Course.

The spring season will get underway on Jan. 30-31 with the Sea Best Invitational at TPC Sawgrass's Dye's Valley Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

UTSA will make the first of two trips to Houston on Feb. 20-21 when it competes in the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Westwood Golf Club.

Following a trip to the Bayou State on March 13-14 for the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette, the Roadrunners will tee it up in the All-American Intercollegiate on March 20-21 at the Golf Club of Houston.

The Aggie Invitational on April 10-11 at Traditions Club in Bryan will serve as the final tune-up for the Conference USA Championship, which will return to Texarkana Country Club on April 24-27.
