UTSA carries undefeated record to South Florida

TAMPA, Fla. – The Roadrunners hit their next spot in their trip to Florida as they head to Tampa, Fla., to face South Florida on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. (CT) and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Roadrunners extended their undefeated 2022 season record to 4-0-1 with their 3-0 win over Stetson on Friday, while also being undefeated in regular season matchups since Sept. 24, 2021 (1-0 loss to UTEP).

UTSA is coming off a 3-0 win over Stetson on Friday morning in DeLand, Fla. Anna Sutter scored a pair of goals, including the game winner in the 11th minute and the third goal in the 48th minute. Sasjah Dade scored the second goal, set up by Deja Sandoval who placed Avery Chaney's free kick in the box for Dade to knock it in. Through the match, the Roadrunners outshot the Hatters by 16 shots to seven shots.

LEADING THE ROADRUNNERS
UTSA has allowed only one goal through the first five matches of the season, the least allowed through the first five matches in program history. Goalkeepers Mia Krusinski and Jil Schneider have each played 225 minutes, as Krusinski has recorded five saves and Schneider has notched three saves. In the conference, the Roadrunners are the only team to allow just a single goal so far this season.

The Roadrunners are ranked No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches' South Region rankings, announced the organization on Tuesday. This is their first appearance on a regional ranking in program history.

Anna Sutter and Kiran Singh each lead the team with eight points each. Sutter has recorded 13 shots (six on goal), three goals and two assists, while Singh has recorded 13 shots (four on target), two goals and four assists.

Sasjah Dade was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week earlier this week and for good reason. Although she is a defender by trade, Dade has contributed greatly on offense as she has six points consisting of three goals.

The defensive line of Sasjah Dade, Deja Sandoval, Kendall Kloza and Sabrina Hillyer have played integral roles in the Roadrunners only allowing one goal and recording four shutouts through the first five matches, accounting for 1573 minutes combined.

Sutter is tied for first in the C-USA with 12 points. Sutter and Singh are both tied for third in the conference with 15 shots apiece. The team is second in the conference with 122 shots and 54 points, just one less than North Texas' 123 shots and 55 points.

SERIES HISTORY
South Florida holds the 1-0 advantage in the all-time series. The teams faced each other before once, on Sept, 8, 2019, when the Roadrunners lost to the Bulls, 5-0. Then-sophomore Isa Hernandez led UTSA with a shot on goal. Then-freshman Jil Schneider recorded four saves in the match.

SCOUTING THE BULLS
South Florida holds a 1-3-0 record after a 2-1 loss to Florida on Thursday night. The Bulls were chosen to finish second in the American Athletic Conference, according to the conference preseason coaches poll. Vivianne Bessette was named to the preseason all-conference team.

Chiara Hahn leads the Bulls with 13 shots, including five on goal, two goals and an assist. Hahn has started in all four games. Goalkeeper Sydney Martinez has played the entirety of all four matches, notching 19 saves.

UP NEXT: The Roadrunners return home to host Stephen F. Austin on Sept. 11 in their final non-conference matchup before conference action begins. Kickoff for the match against the Ladyjacks is set for 12 p.m. at Park West Athletic Complex. Every home match is free admission for fans.
