UTSA set to race in UIW Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's and women's cross country teams are set to race in the UIW Invitational, which will be held Saturday morning at Live Oak City Park (18001 Park Dr).
 
Competition will get underway with the men's 8,000-meter run at 8:30 a.m. followed by the women's 6k at 9:10 a.m.
 
The Roadrunners will run against Huston-Tillotson, Mary Hardin-Baylor, McMurry, Northern Colorado, Our Lady of the Lake, Rice (women only), St. Thomas, Sul Ross State, Texas A&M-Commerce (men only), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M International, Texas Lutheran, Trinity, U Dallas (women only), UIW, UTRGV and Victoria College.
 
This will mark the third meet of the season for UTSA, which saw both teams finish fifth at the Texas A&M Invitational on Sept. 16 in Bryan-College Station.
 
Madi Henry and Abby Balli placed in the top 30 collegiate runners to help lead the women to fifth place in the 10-team field. Henry, a senior transfer who hails from New Braunfels, led the women by finishing 28th overall and 26th among collegians, covering the 5,000-meter course in a time of 19:15.1. Balli, a native of Pasadena, was close behind in 33rd overall and 28th among collegiate runners with a time of 19:26.1.
 
Meanwhile, Colton Stunkard finished 20th to guide the UTSA men to fifth place with 105 points. Stunkard, a transfer from Sam Houston who hails from Texas City, covered the men's 8k loop in a time of 25:14.6 to pace the Roadrunners.
 
This will be the second meet of the campaign held in the San Antonio area, as the women earned a runner-up finish and the men placed sixth at the season-opening UIW Twilight on Sept. 2 at McAllister Park.
