Harris, Sackett collect C-USA weekly accolades

DALLAS — UTSA quarterback Frank Harris and place-kicker Jared Sackett have earned Conference USA Player of the Week accolades, the league office announced Monday.

Harris collected C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honors for the fourth time in his career, while Sackett was named C-USA Special Teams Player of the Week for the third time as a Roadrunner.

Harris accounted for 400 yards of offense and four touchdowns in the 37-35, triple-overtime setback to No. 24 Houston last Saturday at the Alamodome. The senior from Schertz Clemens High completed 28 of 43 passes for 337 yards and three touchdowns and added 63 yards and a score on the ground. He completed passes to six different receivers, with a pair topping the century mark in yards and another hauling in two TD catches. Harris had a 38-yard touchdown dash in the second quarter to give UTSA its first lead of the afternoon and he later led the Roadrunners on a 55-yard drive in less than 23 seconds to set up the game-tying field goal.

Sackett made the most of his return to the Roadrunners in the season opener. The senior transfer kicker drilled a 37-yard field goal as time expired to tie the score at 24-all and force overtime. In the first extra period, the Fort Worth native split the uprights from 39 yards out to send the contest into double overtime before the Roadrunners eventually dropped a 37-35 heartbreaker to the Cougars. Sackett was a two-time Lou Groza Award semifinalist and Freshman All-American for UTSA in 2017-18 before transferring to Arkansas then USF prior to rejoining the Roadrunners this year.

WKU's Kaleb Oliver earned the defensive nod. The C-USA Player of the Week awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.

The Roadrunners will travel to West Point, New York, to face Army on Saturday, Sept, 10. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. Central time at Michie Stadium.
