UTSA to run in Arturo Barrios Invitational on Saturday morning

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Bryan-College Station to compete in the Arturo Barrios Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M at Watts Cross Country Course.
 
The Roadrunners will line up against Arkansas State, Baylor, Central Arkansas, Florida, Houston, Houston Christian, Kansas City, Kennesaw State, Lamar, Lipscomb, Louisiana, LSU, McNeese, New Mexico State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Texas, Ohio State, Our Lady of the Lake, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Sam Houston, SMU, Stephen F. Austin, Tarleton State, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M-Texarkana, Texas Southern, Texas State, Texas Tech, Tulane, UIW, ULM, UT Arlington, UTEP, UTRGV, West Texas A&M and West Texas Colllege.
 
The men's 8,000-meter run is slated to start at 9 a.m. followed by the women's 6k at 9:45 a.m. 
 
UTSA is coming off third-place finishes at the UIW Invitational on Oct. 1.
 
Colton Stunkard placed fifth to lead three Roadrunners in the top 15 finishers and help the men take third in the team standings. The transfer from Texas City covered the 8k loop in a time of 25:10.3, while Jake Smith placed in 25:26.0 and Spencer Herbstritt was 13th with a 25:35.0.
 
Meanwhile, Madi Henry was UTSA's top female finisher for the second straight meet, crossing 10th to pace a quartet of Roadrunners in the top 20 of the women's 6k. The senior transfer from New Braunfels clocked a time of 22:54.8, while Abby Balli and Chante Dixon were 15th (23:26.9) and 17th (23:32.6), respectively. Luzaan De Wit finished 20th in her UTSA debut, posting a time of 23:37.4 to put four Roadrunners in the top 20.
 
At last year's Arturo Barrios Invitational, Maddie Boswell finished fifth to lead the women to 22nd place, while Smith was 75th to help the men finish 25th in the team standings.
