UTSA took a 1-0 advantage in the 14th minute as Deja Sandoval booted the ball from about half field to right in front of the goal where Anna Sutter fed the ball to Chaney who knocked it in. The Roadrunners extended their lead to 2-0 when Anna Sutter's ball was saved by the Blue Raiders' goalkeeper Hannah Suder but then Alissa Stewart sneaked past to knock the ball in during the 21st minute. Just a few minutes later, Chaney fired in her second goal of the night to put UTSA up 3-0. UTSA fired off three more shots and MTSU countered with one shot, but the Roadrunners carried a 3-0 lead to halftime.
