Clark added to Biletnikoff Award watch list

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — UTSA senior wide receiver De'Corian Clark has been added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., announced Wednesday.

Clark is one of 10 players who were added to the list today. That group also includes Emeka Egbuka (Ohio State), Charlie Jones (Purdue), Dominic Lovett (Missouri), Trey Palmer (Nebraska), Rashee Rice (SMU), Tyler Scott (Cincinnati), Tyrin Smith (UTEP), Elijah Spencer (Charlotte) and Keylon Stokes (Tulsa). They join 44 preseason watch list members — including UTSA senior Zakhari Franklin — for the Biletnikoff Award, which recognizes the college football season's most outstanding FBS receiver. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back, and running back), who catches a pass is eligible for the award. As such, the Biletnikoff Award recognizes college football's outstanding receiver, not merely college football's outstanding wide receiver.

Clark leads UTSA and ranks second in Conference USA and seventh in the FBS with 556 receiving yards this season. He has caught 35 passes and owns six touchdown receptions, good for sixth nationally. He paces the league and stands sixth in the nation with 111.2 receiving yards per game, while his 7.0 receptions-per-game average is 12th-best in the country.

The Fort Worth O.D. Wyatt High School product set a UTSA single-game record with 217 yards on nine catches and matched his own school standard with three TDs in the 52-24 victory over Texas Southern on Sept. 24. He followed that with 139 yards on eight receptions in the 45-30 road triumph over Middle Tennessee less than one week later, giving him 356 yards and three scores on 17 catches over his last two contests.

For his career, Clark has 96 receptions for 1,374 yards and 14 touchdowns in 38 games.

Recently, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation opened the 2022 FanVote. Every fan may vote once daily on the Biletnikoff Award FanVote page. The aggregate fan tally will be counted as one official vote to determine semifinalists (10 receivers), finalists (three receivers) and the winner.

The 2022 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented the Biletnikoff Award trophy by TQC Foundation Chairman Mark Ryan and the banquet keynote speaker Drew Pearson, member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, at the black-tie Biletnikoff Award Banquet & Celebration at the Dunlap Champions Club, on March 4, 2023, at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.

The semifinalists, finalists and award recipient are selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of 610 prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners and other former receivers. Foundation trustees do not vote and have never voted. For a list of voters, please see BiletnikoffAward.com/voters.

The Biletnikoff Award candidate eligibility and voting criteria, transparently explicit and detailed, are available for review at BiletnikoffAward.com/criteria.

The Roadrunners (3-2, 1-0 C-USA) will host Western Kentucky (3-2, 1-0) this Saturday, Oct. 8, in a rematch of last year's C-USA Championship Game. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at the Alamodome and the game will air on ESPN+ and Ticket 760 AM. Tickets are available by calling or texting 210-458-UTSA (8872) or visiting http://goUTSA.com/tickets
