Roadrunners add Kent State transfer Mia Soerensen for 2023 roster

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA head coach Carol Price-Torok announced today the addition of transfer right-side hitter Mia Soerensen.

"I'm really excited to get Mia on campus and implemented into our program," said coach Price-Torok. "She brings a physicality with her game that will help elevate our team overall as we transition to the American Athletic Conference. Mia's a proven player who has already had success at the college level at her previous school where she performed well enough to be an All-Freshman selection. She will be a key piece of our team moving forward."

Soerensen, a 6-4 Meadville, Pennsylvania native, joins the Roadrunners after a single season at Kent State where she tallied 198 kills on a .259 attack percentage to go with 51 block assists. At Kent State, she was third on the team in kills, points and attack percentage. In her lone season as a Golden Flash, Soerensen was named to the MAC All-Freshman team.

The lefty had nine double-digit kill performances on the season, earning a career-high 13 kills against Western Michigan on 10/29. Soerensen put up impressive numbers despite playing in just 85 sets for the Golden Flashes. She started 12 of the 25 matches she appeared in.

Soerensen is set to enroll at UTSA this spring and will have an entire offseason to implement herself into the UTSA system. Joining Soerensen as a spring enrollee is Miranda Putnicki, a 6-4 middle blocker who was announced as one of three high school recruits who had signed with the Roadrunners back in November. The two will add some serious height to the Roadrunners as they prepare for their move to the American Athletic Conference.
