UTSA adds Elliott Davison to signing class

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head football coach Jeff Traylor on Friday announced that the program has added Elliott Davison, a transfer from UIW, to the 2023 signing class, bringing the total to 24 student-athletes.

Davison played three seasons for the Cardinals, appearing in 27 games over the past two years as a safety. He recorded 42 tackles, including 30 solo stops, collected six pass breakups and shared the team lead with three interceptions to help guide UIW to the semifinal round of the 2022 FCS Playoffs, finishing 12-2 and ranking as high as No. 5 nationally.

Of the 24 signees, 16 hail from the state of Texas with seven from the Greater Houston Area, five from East Texas and two apiece from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and Central Texas. There are two signees from Georgia and one each from Alabama, Hawai'i, Louisiana, Mississippi and Pennsylvania, as well as the program's first-ever player from American Samoa.

The group features 13 who come from the high school ranks and 11 transfers. Of the transfers, four are moving to San Antonio from an FBS or FCS program while the other seven last played at a junior college.

Fifteen members of the class are offensive players, while nine are pegged for the defensive side of the ball.
