UTSA announces addition of Southern Miss transfer Aliah Giroux

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA head coach Carol Price-Torok officially announced the addition of Southern Miss transfer libero/defensive specialist Aliah Giroux.

"We are proud to have a San Antonio native like Aliah back in town and as a member of our program," said coach Price-Torok. "We played against her this past season and her steadiness as a passer and preparation as a defender really stuck out. She brings a lot of experience to our backcourt and it is always exciting to have a local product on our team. Her dependability is going to help our gym moving forward and we're looking forward to having her be a part of our group."

Giroux, a San Antonio native who attended Cornerstone Christian, joins the Roadrunners after spending three seasons at Southern Miss where she tallied 716 digs, averaging 2.92 digs per set, scoring 68 points over her three years. Giroux also totaled 56 aces and had 125 assists from her defensive specialist position. She notched a career-high 32 digs against Alabama and spent the 2021 season as the Golden Eagles' libero. Giroux has totaled 16 double-digit dig performances in her career.

Giroux is enrolled for the spring semester and will have two semesters to implement herself before fall competition. Giroux joins both Mia Soerensen, a Kent State transfer, and Miranda Putnicki, an incoming freshman, as spring enrollees.
