UTSA hits the road to face pair of opponents this weekend

at UT Arlington: 2/11 – 12 p.m.
at SMU: 2/12 – 10:30 a.m.
 
SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team will return to the court this weekend when it takes to the road and heads north to face a pair of Dallas-area opponents.
 
The Roadrunners (1-3) will face UT Arlington (2-2) on Saturday with action starting at 12 p.m. at the UTA Tennis Center and will then face SMU (5-3) on Sunday morning with action beginning at 9 a.m. at the Styslinger / Altec Tennis Complex.
 
UTSA hosted a pair of schools, New Orleans and UC Santa Barbara, this past weekend as a part of its home-opening weekend. The Roadrunners picked up their first win of the season on Friday, Feb. 3, when it bested New Orleans, 5-2. UTSA was back in action on Sunday, facing an undefeated UC Santa Barbara squad. The Roadrunners fell to UCSB, 2-5, as the Gauchos rallied from dropping the doubles point to winning five of the six singles matches.
 
UTSA's doubles pair of Sebastian Rodriguez and Alan Magadan remain in the top ten of the ITA national rankings as the duo was recently announced as the eighth-best tandem in the country following the Feb. 8 update.
 
Series History
UT Arlington – UTSA will meet up with UT Arlington for the 21st time this weekend in what is one of the longest series in school history. UTSA holds a 13-7 advantage over the Mavericks and the Roadrunners have won three straight matches over UTA. In the teams' previous meeting, UTSA downed UT Arlington 6-1 on March 2, 2022.
 
SMU – The Roadrunners and Mustangs will compete in the seventh-ever meeting between the two schools this weekend. SMU leads the all-time series 4-2 and has won the past two matchups, claiming the previous meeting 4-0 on UTSA's home court on March 13, 2022.

The Roadrunners will return to action next weekend, playing again on the road. Across Feb. 17/18, UTSA will participate in the HEB Tournament of Champions which will be hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
