SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA track & field teams will open the outdoor campaign on Saturday, March 4, at the Longhorn Invitational at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
The one-day meet is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m. with field events followed by two sessions of running events starting at 2:50 and 5:30 p.m.
UTSA's first outdoor meet of the year will come on the heels of a strong performance at the Conference USA Indoor on Feb. 18-19 in Birmingham, Alabama.
The men earned a runner-up finish with 136 points behind five gold-medal performances.
Jack Turner captured his third career heptathlon crown with a meet-record 5,794 points and the junior from England was named C-USA Indoor Male Performer of the Year for the second time in the past three years.
Mike Roth ended up as High Point Scorer of the Meet after tallying 20.5 points. The sophomore from Canada won the 400 meters with a school-record time of 46.42 seconds, secured silver in the 200m in 21.09 and anchored the 4x400m relay to gold in 3:12.45.
All-Americans Christiaan Le Roux and Jemuel Miller picked up the other gold medals by winning the long and triple jumps, respectively.
The women placed fourth in the team standings with 75 points behind a a trio of podium finishes at the C-USA Indoor.
Oreoluwa Adamson won the long jump with a school-record leap of 6.46 meters (21-2.5), which qualified her for the NCAA Indoor Championships next Friday, March 10, in Albuquerque. The London, England, native also earned runner-up honors in the triple jump with a mark of 12.80m (42-0).
The 4x4 quartet of Ibiso David-West, Marie Duvigneau, Geraldy Barron and Alanah Yukich grabbed the bronze medal with a 3:47.33 clocking.
