UTSA to travel to Dallas for Trinity Forest Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's golf team will travel to Dallas for the Trinity Forest Invitational, which will be hosted by SMU on Monday-Tuesday, March 6-7, at Trinity Forest Golf Club (par 72/6,464 yards).
 
The Roadrunners will bring a lineup of Olivia Williams, Camryn Carreon, Hunter Nugent, Morgan Ellison and Lauren Rios for the 54-hole tournament. UTSA will face Cal Poly, Dallas Baptist, Fresno State, No. 43 Houston, No. 35 Kent State, Seattle, No. 31 SMU, Southern Miss, Texas State, Tulane, No. 42 Tulsa, UAB, UIW and USF.
 
The field will play 36 holes on Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The final round is slated for Tuesday. 
 
The Roadrunners have played in the Trinity Forest five times previously, including a fourth-place showing a year ago. Nicole Polivchak tied for 11th, Carreon finished 13th and Hannah Holzmann and Ana Gonzalez shared 18th to lead UTSA to its best finish at the event.
 
UTSA is coming off a 16th-place finish at the ICON Invitational last week at the Golf Club of Houston. Carreon and Williams tied for 74th, while Ellison and Nugent grabbed a share of 78th.
 
Carreon leads the Roadrunners with 73.8 stroke average and three top-10 finishes this season. The senior from San Antonio tied for sixth with a 1-over-par 217 (75-71-71) at the Dale McNamara Invitational and posted a 3-under 213 (74-72-67) to tie for eighth at the Jim West Challenge last fall to go with 10th-place score of 2-under 214 (71-72-71) at the Paradise Invitational last month.
 
Morgan Ellison stands second on the squad with a 74.63 average and the sophomore from Georgia owns a top finish of 10th after carding a 2-over 218 (75-69-74) at the Dale McNamara Invitational.
 
Williams and Nugent own scoring averages of 76.24 and 76.78, respectively, while Rios totes a 78.9 mark.
