SAN ANTONIO – Looking to extend its NCAA DI-leading, 14-match win streak, No. 34 UTSA men's tennis (16-4) heads east on I-10 for a crucial, ranked Conference USA match at No. 71 Rice (11-8) on Saturday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center in Houston.
In reaching a program-record 14 consecutive victories, the Roadrunners have earned a 5-1 record against ranked opponents – that loss coming at the hands of No. 1-ranked Texas with its 19-2 record. UTSA's current ranking at 34th represents the highest program ranking in school history for men's tennis. The Roadrunners are also fresh off being named the ITA DI Men's Tennis Team of the Month for March – following a 9-0 finish with three ranked wins.
UTSA will meet the Owls on Saturday, April 8, at 11 a.m. in the final scheduled regular season match for the Roadrunners. Playing at the George R. Brown gives UTSA a first-hand preview of the facility set to host the Conference USA Championships beginning on April 21. The facility has 14 total courts and seating for 600 fans.
Leading the way for UTSA into the weekend, junior Alan Magadan is pacing all Roadrunners in solo action with a 12-6 record since arriving this season from Tyler Junior College. Originally hailing from McAllen, Magadan also is holding in the ITA national doubles rankings with senior Sebastian Rodriguez, sitting at No. 21 in the April 4 rankings. The pair are 3-4 since earning the ITA Texas Region Championship in the fall and reaching the national quarterfinal.
Making the biggest impact with his fifth-court play, sophomore Danijal Muminovic is also 10-6 this year. He's often a quick starter for the Roadrunners, logging the first singles point for UTSA in four matches.
Sophomore Tomás Pinho holds the top spot in doubles play, going 11-6 with four different partners this season, largely on the second court. Meanwhile, Magadan is 10-6 and Rodriguez is 10-5, both seeing a variety of partner combinations.

Series History
The Roadrunners and Owls have been facing off since 1987 on the tennis court, and Rice holds a 19-6 advantage in the overall series after a commanding 11-straight to open the series. Rice won the last outing in San Antonio (4-2) in 2022, but the Roadrunners picked up victories in each of the 2021 meetings.
