UTSA set for final conference tune-up

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's golf team will travel to Bryan, Texas, to compete in The Aggie Invitational, which will be held on Monday-Tuesday, April 10-11, at Traditions Club (par 72/7,227 yards).
 
The Roadrunners will bring a lineup of Christian Fanfelle, Hunter Bott, David Harrison, Jack Wehman, Patrick Kahanek and Brayden Bare (individual) for their final tune-up for the Conference USA Championship set for April 24-27 in Texarkana, Arkansas. 
 
UTSA will compete against No. 24 Baylor, Florida Gulf Coast, No. 47 Houston, Little Rock, No. 33 Louisville, No. 41 LSU, Memphis, New Mexico State, North Texas, Sam Houston, No. 38 TCU and No. 15 Texas A&M.
 
The field will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. each day. 
 
This will mark UTSA's third consecutive and eighth overall appearance in The Aggie Invitational. The Roadrunners have finished 11th in each of the past two tournaments, including last with year with a 938 (309-311-318) behind Bott, who tied for 37th with a 234 (76-80-78).
 
UTSA is coming off a 17th-place finish at the All-American Intercollegiate on March 20-21 at the Golf Club of Houston. Harrison tied for 33rd with a 5-over-par 221 (76-74-71) to lead the way, while Fanfelle finished in a tie for 51st at 8-over 224. 
 
Fanfelle paces the Roadrunners with a 72.88 stroke average and six top-30 finishes in 2022-23. The super senior from San Antonio fired a 9-under-par 207 (68-70-69) to finish fifth at the Trinity Forest Invitational last fall and he posted his top 54-hole tally of the spring at the Sea Best Invitational in January with a 6-over 216 (71-70-75) to tie for 26th.
 
Bott ranks second on the team with a 73.65 scoring average to go with a trio of top 30s, including a tie for 13th at The Clerico when he carded a 70-76—146.
 
Harrison owns a 74.0 average and a top finish of 13th at the Trinity Forest Invitational when he posted a 5-under 211 (72-71-68).
 
Kahanek has a 74.22 stroke average in nine rounds this season, while Wehman and Bare boast marks of 74.22 and 74.27, respectively.
