UTSA trio collects C-USA postseason honors

DALLAS — UTSA seniors Hunter Bott and Christian Fanfelle have been named to the All-Conference USA Men's Golf Third Team and Brayden Bare landed on the C-USA All-Freshman Team, the league office announced Monday.

Bott collected his first career all-conference award after leading the Roadrunners with a 73.41 stroke average in 2022-23. The senior from Montgomery, Texas, logged four top-20 finishes and nine par-or-better rounds during the season, including tie for 10th place at The Aggie Invitational in April after carding a 3-under-par 213 (74-68-71) that earned him C-USA Golfer of the Week accolades. A 2022 C-USA All-Tournament Team, he fired a 222 (74-74-74) to grab a share for 18th at this year's league tournament. He also tied for 13th with a 4-over 146 (70-76) at The Clerico last fall and posted a 222 (71-76-75) for 15th at the Louisiana Classics earlier this spring.

Fanfelle reeled in his third career all-conference team honor to cap his super senior season. The San Antonio native ranked second on the team with a 73.78 stroke average to go with a trio of top-20 finishes and 10 par-or-better scorecards. A second-team pick in 2021 and a third-team selection the year prior, he registered his top finish of fifth after carding a 9-under 207 (68-70-69) at the Trinity Forest Invitational last fall. He fired a 6-under 210 (69-72-69) to claim a share of 12th at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate and he shot a 1-under 215 (71-73-71) to tie for 18th at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate.

Bare capped his debut campaign by landing on the C-USA All-Freshman Team after recording a 76.31 stroke average I 10 events. He opened the season by tying for 12th with a 148 that included a 3-under 69 at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational while playing as an individual. He turned in his top 54-hole total of 221 (73-71-77) to tie for 61st at the Trinity Forest Invitational and was 41st at The Clerico after posting a 152 (79-73).

With the two all-conference honors this year, UTSA now has earned 42 all-conference certificates in its history. Additionally, Bare's C-USA All-Freshman Team selection is the fifth by a Roadrunner in 10 years in the league and the first since Fanfelle in 2019.
