Roadrunners ready for William H. Tucker Intercollegiate

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men’s golf team will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to play in the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 25-26, at UNM Championship Course (par 72/7,546 yards).

The Roadrunners will compete against BYU, Colorado, Hawai’i, Kansas State, Long Beach State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, San Diego, San Diego State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, TCU, Texas Tech, UC Santa Barbara, UNLV, USC, Utah Tech, UTEP and Wyoming.

The field will play 36 holes on Monday and the final round is slated for Tuesday. 

UTSA is coming off a 10th-place finish at the Valero Texas Collegiate on Sept. 9-11 at TPC San Antonio. UTSA posted an 882 to end up seven shots ahead of Louisville and 12 in front of Georgia Southern, while finishing only five strokes behind ninth-place Georgia in one of the top collegiate fields in the country.

David Harrison led the way with a 3-over 219 (72-69-78) to finish in a tie for 27th, while Hunter Bott tied for 31st at 4-over 220 (74-73-73). Jack Wehman grabbed a share of 38th with a 224 (72-77-73), Brock Blais carded a 224 (75-77-72) for 50th and Walker Franklin rounded out the UTSA lineup in 67th (72-81-80—233).

The Roadrunners tied for 14th at last year’s William H. Tucker Intercollegiate. Christian Fanfelle placed 18th with a 1-under 215 (71-73-71), while Bott tied for 41st (71-72-78—221), Wehman finished 78th (77-72-79—228) and Harrison ended up in a tie for 91st (77-78-76—231).
