UTSA to continue fall campaign at The Carolina Cup

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men’s golf team will continue the fall campaign on Sunday-Tuesday, Oct. 8-10, at The Carolina Cup, which will be hosted by USC Upstate at Carolina Country Club (par 72/7,071 yards) in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The Roadrunners will travel a lineup of Hunter Bott, Jack Wehman, David Harrison, Brock Blais and Christian Rodriguez to compete against Central Michigan, Charleston Southern, Howard, Jacksonville, James Madison, Kennesaw State, Lafayette College, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Texas, Tennessee Tech, UAB, UConn, USC Upstate and Winthrop.

The field will play 18 holes each day. 

UTSA is coming off a 12th-place showing at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on Sept. 25-26 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Bott finished in a tie for 24th place at 1-under 215 (73-69-73) to lead the way, while Blais (76-73-69—218) and Wehman (72-75-71—218) each grabbed a share of 43rd.

The Roadrunners opened the season by placing 10th at the Valero Texas Collegiate on Sept. 9-11 at TPC San Antonio’s Oaks Course.

Bott paces the Roadrunners with a 72.5 stroke average this season and the senior from Montgomery, Texas has turned in a 73-or-better scorecard in five of six rounds so far.

Harrison ranks second on the squad with a 73.0 average, as the senior from Trophy Club, Texas, has registered a 3-over 219 in each of the first two tournaments this fall.

Wehman, a junior out of Austin, boasts a 73.33 scoring average with a top finish of 38th at the Valero Texas Collegiate, while Blais, a freshman from Florida, owns a 73.67 mark. This event will mark the UTSA debut for Rodriguez, who earned NCAA Division III All-America honors at Southwestern University.
