SAN ANTONIO — On Sunday, the UTSA Women's Basketball team will visit Eugene, Oregon, with a 1 p.m. C.T. matchup against Oregon awaiting inside Matthew Knight Arena.
The game will be broadcast live on Pac 12-Plus, with Chris Clayton providing play-by-play alongside Bev Smith. Neal Raphael will deliver the radio call in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.
The Roadrunners (5-4, 0-0 AAC) enter the contest looking to bounce back after narrowly falling to Houston on Thursday. UTSA was down by as much as 22 before launching a comeback bid that saw a sophomore Sidney Love triple make it a two-point game with 12 seconds remaining. The Cougars, however, managed to hold on, working a 66-64 win in what represented the Roadrunners' final nonconference home game.
Nobody in the Convo logged as many points as freshman Aysia Proctor, who dropped 19, as senior Kyra White managed 17. Additionally, White was the game's leader in assists, dishing out five, and she tied freshman Idara Udo for the most rebounds in the contest with eight.
After collecting 14 more boards than Houston, UTSA has used a 12.2 rebound margin to climb into 16th on the NCAA leader board. That's just one of their statistics inside the nation's top-25 list, as 46.0 rpg ranks 13th, and 6.2 bpg sits seventh. All three figures lead the American Athletic Conference, and redshirt junior Elyssa Coleman tops the AAC individually with 17 blocks and a 1.89 bpg figure. White, meanwhile, averages 35.17 minutes for the most in the league and ranks third with 4.3 apg. Additionally, Love's 87.2% free throw percentage is the second-best across The American.
The Ducks (7-3, 0-0 Pac 12) are riding a three-game winning streak and have dropped only a trio of contests on the season, falling to Santa Clara, Portland, and a then-ranked No. 13 Baylor squad.
A disciplined team, Oregon commits the fifth fewest fouls in the nation, averaging 12.4 each time out. Like the 'Runners, the Ducks are a solid rebounding team with 32.3 defensive boards per game, slotting them seventh across the NCAA.
Phillipina Kyei has been one of the most dominant players across all of women's hoops, with eight double-doubles representing the most of any student-athlete. Posting 126 rebounds on the year, Kyei ranks fourth nationally, and her 12.6 rpg sits second only to Lauren Gustin of BYU.
Three members of the squad average double-digit points as Grace VanSlooten tops the team with 16.2 ppg, while Chance Gray has recorded 13.8 ppg and Kyei 13.1 ppg. Grey has been Oregon's top passer with 3.9 apg, and Sofia Bell's 15 steals are the most of any Duck.
