Aysia Proctor crowned American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week

Proctor becomes the second Roadrunner to claim the accolade across the 2023-24 campaign

SAN ANTONIO — The American Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards on Monday, with Aysia Proctor, representing UTSA women's basketball, as the league's Freshman of the Week.

Proctor shot the basketball extremely well across the week. She scored 19 points with eight rebounds in a 65-42 victory over defending champions South Florida before dropping nine and eight rebounds against UAB. She went 10-for-24 from the field, including 5-for-10 from beyond the arc, working 14.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg to go along with two blocks and an assist.

She becomes the second Roadrunner to claim the accolade this season, as fellow newcomer Idara Udo was awarded on Dec. 6, 2023, following a 15-point, nine-rebound performance against Seattle U. This marks the first occasion since the 2019-20 campaign in which multiple Runners claimed a league Freshman of the Week award, as Mikayla Woods and Adryana Quezada both accomplished the feat in Conference-USA.

UTSA will be back in action on Saturday when they meet SMU in Dallas, Texas. The game will tip off at 2 p.m. inside the Moody Center.
