No. 61 UTSA drops match to Rice

HOUSTON – The No. 61 UTSA women’s tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to the Rice Owls on Saturday at George R. Brown Tennis Center.

 

The Owls took a 1-0 advantage after winning the doubles point. The dynamic duo of Cassie McLay and Aleksandra Zlatarova suffered their first doubles loss of the season, falling to Chie Kezuka and Federica Trevisan by 6-1 at the first court. Vittoria Baccino and Magda Tuells dropped a 6-2 match to Anushka Ashar and Divna Ratkovic at court three.

 

Rice opened up with a win at the top singles court to add on to their advantage as Zlatarova fell to Trevisan by sets of 6-1 and 6-2. Next, Baccino battled but fell to Ratkovic at the third spot by 7-5 and 6-2. The Owls sealed the win with a fifth court win of 6-3 and 6-2 by Saara Orav, as Rice took the 4-0 win over UTSA.

 

The Roadrunners fall to a 7-2 record, while the Owls improve to 3-5 record.
