SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's basketball team will take on Tulane on Sunday as a part of Rowdy Rodeo Weekend in the Convocation Center. The American Athletic Conference contest will begin at 2 p.m., and fans are invited to don their best western wear. Festivities include a custom-branded UTSA cowboy hat giveaway, San Antonio Rodeo tickets, prize packs, country music, and more.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with Karl Schoening providing play-by-play alongside Carlie Heineman. Neal Raphael will deliver the radio call in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.
The Roadrunners (11-9, 5-4 The American) will look to keep the momentum going after knocking off a first-place North Texas squad, 75-67, in an overtime thriller on Wednesday.
Freshman Idara Udo paced the squad in the win, logging a double-double to the tune of 14 points and 12 rebounds. Also performing well, redshirt junior Elyssa Coleman scored nine points with nine boards and blocked four of the opposition's shots. Sophomore Sidney Love charted 13 points and freshman Aysia Proctor 11, while senior Kyra White worked seven points, six assists, and four rebounds. Graduate student Hailey Atwood joined the festivities, scoring five points to surpass 1,000 in her collegiate career.
UTSA has now climbed as high as third nationally with 46.7 rebounds per game. 30.4 defensive boards per game and 16.2 offensive rebounds each rank 10th across the NCAA, and the 'Runners collect 10.7 more rebounds than their opponents for the 12th-best margin in the country. Defensively, UTSA sits 15th in the nation, holding the opposition to a 35.5% shooting clip and 5.0 blocks per game rank 19th.
Individually, White is the league leader with 5.2 assists per game and 103 across the season slot her second. She also plays 35.0 minutes a game for the second-most in the league. Coleman, meanwhile, has collected 34 blocks across the year, placing her second on The American's leader board, and Udo's 3.7 offensive rebounds per game represent the fourth most in the league.
The Green Wave (9-11, 2-7 The American) are coming off a midweek victory as well, recently besting Charlotte, 70-68, in New Orleans.
Nobody in the AAC logs as many assists as Tulane, who records 15.8 assists per game. The Green Wave are also incredibly efficient from the charity stripe, converting 77% of their free throws for the second-best across the conference.
Kaylah Rainey has been a crucial part of Tulane's offense, with a 1.88 assist/turnover ratio ranking second in the league. Kyren Whittington paces the squad with 15.7 points per game at a 49.4% clip, while Marta Galic, Hannah Pratt, and Amira Mobry join her in averaging double-digit scoring figures.
Whittington leads the squad and is second in the AAC with 2.73 steals per game, while Irina Parau is the team leader with 6.7 rebounds per game.
