SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women’s tennis team welcomes Southland powerhouse Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to the UTSA Tennis Center, hosting the Islanders on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

The Roadrunners have started the 2024 campaign with their best start (4-0) under head coach Ki Kroll, going undefeated through their first four matches. UTSA has dominated in doubles action, earning a 10-1 record, to go along with a 19-5 singles advantage. A pair of Roadrunners are undefeated in singles play, including No. 2 Fatima Gutierrez and No. 6 Magda Tuells. Freshmen Ekua Youri and Vittoria Baccino have faired well at the third and fourth courts, battling to 3-1 records.

The Islanders hold a 15-6 advantage in the all-time series against the Roadrunners, after Texas A&M-Corpus Christi took a 4-0 win over UTSA on Feb. 22, 2022. Earning its third consecutive Southland Conference Championship last season, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has started this season with a 7-0 record. The Islanders’ roster includes six returners and two freshman. Senior Emma Aucagne leads the team with a 7-0 singles record and 4-1 doubles record, both played mainly at the first court.

The Roadrunners travel to Las Vegas next week, facing Kansas City on Feb. 16 and UNLV on Feb. 17 – both at 10 a.m. PT/12 p.m. CT.
