SAN ANTONIO – In just the third week of outdoor competition for the UTSA track & field team, the Roadrunners will be hitting two different locations in South Texas this weekend, traveling to both the 96th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, as well as the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos. Competition at both meets begins for the Roadrunners on Thursday, March 28, and runs through Saturday, March 30.
Based on event qualification, the Roadrunners are taking a 17-member party to the prestigious 96th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin – the site of the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships. The meet starts on Wednesday, March 27, with multi-events, but the Roadrunners will not see competition until the 400-meter hurdles on Thursday, March 28, at 4:30 p.m. Action will resume on Friday with running events starting at 9:35 a.m., as UTSA has competitors in the women’s 100-meter hurdles, women’s 100-meter, men’s 4x400-meter relay and both men’s and women’s long jump. On Saturday, UTSA will have performers in the men’s triple jump, men’s 4x200-meter relay, women’s high jump, 200-meter and men’s 100-meter.
Last year at the Texas Relays, the women’s 4x100-meter relay of David-West, Geraldy Barron, Lauren Roy and Thennelle Williams won the timed final in 46.24. The very next day, the men’s 4x200-meter relay of Brice Chabot, Dennis Phillips, Trevion McCalla and Mike Roth placed third and sliced two seconds off the school record. The women's 4x200-meter relay quartet of David-West, Alanah Yukich, Barron and Roy teamed up for a time of 1:38.78 to finish 10th. In field events, Oreoluwa Adamson leaped to an eighth-place finish in the women's long jump with a 6.04 meters (19-9.75) measurement. In the men's long jump, Christiaan Le Roux placed 12th overall and 11th among collegians. In addition, Yukich logged a seventh-place finish in the top division of the women's 400m hurdles at 58.02. The men's 4x400-meter relay quartet of Noah Rhodes, Roth, Logan Masters and Phillips registered a time of 3:14.23 for seventh.

The Bobcat Invitational will feature 80 different programs, along with a mix of professional and unattached athletes at the Texas State Track & Field Complex in San Marcos. The Roadrunners will head up I-35 with a 21-athlete traveling party, focused heavily on distance and throwing events. Competition will kick off at the Bobcat Invite for UTSA with multi-events competition on Thursday, in addition to the discus, 800-meter, 10,000-meter and 3,000-meter steeplechase. On Friday, multi-events will conclude, and UTSA will compete in the hammer throw, shot put and 1,500-meter. Wrapping up the meet on Saturday, the Roadrunners will compete in the high jump, shot put and hammer throw.
At last year’s meet, Angel Robles opened with a third-place finish in the men's shot put. In the distance races on Friday night, Caden Cunningham earned a runner-up finish in the men's 5,000-meter after clocking a time of 15:08.69, while Sabrina Goains clocked an 18:25.53 to finish seventh in the women's 5,000-meter.
