SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men’s tennis team (7-7) continued their home court dominance since beginning their homestand at the UTSA Tennis Center, reeling off their third consecutive sweep on a 7-0 victory over Kennesaw State (5-3) on Friday afternoon.
That dominance started in the doubles courts, as Garrett Skelly and Jackson Ross (6-3) on court two barely edged out Miguel Alonso and Alan Magadan (6-3) for the first finish in making quick work of the Owls in doubles. At the clinch, Tomás Pinho and Tiago Torres held a 5-3 lead on the first court.
Carrying the momentum over to singles with a 1-0 lead, UTSA earned straight-set wins across all six courts. Turning in his racket first, Ross took a 7-5 win in the first set on five over Austin Miramontes, then his opponent defaulted – surrendering the point. Alonso followed with a commanding 6-0, 6-3 victory over Seru Tezuka on six. On four, Danijal Muminovic clinched the match for UTSA with a 6-2, 6-2 besting of Sam Baldwin. The final two points were a grind for the Roadrunners, but Torres pushed past Harvey Conway, 6-2, 7-6 (2) and Magadan finished the job with a 6-2, 7-5 defeat of Raul Garcia.
