SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men’s golf team will travel to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, for the second time this spring to make their first appearance in The Hayt, which will be hosted by North Florida on Saturday-Monday, March 9-11, at Sawgrass Country Club (par 72/6,966 yards).

The Roadrunners will line up with Hunter Bott, Brock Blais, Jack Wehman, David Harrison and Walker Franklin to compete against No. 21 Alabama, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, No. 23 Duke, Jacksonville, Liberty, Louisville, No. 1 North Carolina, No. 25 North Florida, No. 26 Ohio State, No. 40 South Florida, UCF and No. 13 Virginia.

The field will play 18 holes each day with tee times off both sides starting at 6:30 a.m. CT Saturday, 7 a.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m. Monday.

UTSA is coming off a fourth-place tie at the weather-shortened Dorado Beach Collegiate in Puerto Rico. The Roadrunners registered a 24-under-par 552 to grab a share of fourth with West Virginia in the 17-team field. The Roadrunners opened with a 10-under 278 and followed with a season-best, 14-under 274, which is tied for the sixth-best team score in program history. UTSA ended up two shots ahead of Illinois State and five in front of a tie for seventh between Valparaiso and ULM, while finishing one stroke behind Kent State and four back of second-place Ball State.

Individually, Wehman registered his second straight top-10 finish by tying for fifth with a 9-under-par 135 (67-68), the second-best 36-hole total in school history. The junior from Austin boasts a 73.05 stroke average, tied for second on the team, and he has logged a 71.5 mark this spring.

Bott leads the Roadrunners with a 71.38 scoring average to go along with a pair of top 10s, including a runner-up showing at The Clerico last October when he fired an 8-under 202 (68-68-66). The senior is coming off a tie for 23rd (67-72—139) at the Dorado Beach Collegiate.

Harrison has matched Wehman with a 73.05 stroke average during his final season. The Trophy Club, Texas, native owns a pair of top 20-showings, highlighted by a tie for 14th at The Carolina Cup last fall.

Blais will be playing in his hometown for the second time during his debut campaign. The Ponte Vedra High School product has posted a 73.65 average this season and recorded back-to-back top-25 finishes earlier this spring, including a tie for 21st (74-68-74) at the Sea Best Invitational at TPC Sawgrass in late January.

Franklin owns a 76.18 stroke average and a top finish of 46th at the Bentwater Invitational last month in Montgomery, Texas.
